When you're a kid, it's always fun to try to get away with stuff. Sneaking into movies, pocketing a candy bar at checkout, and watching scandalous late-night TV with your buddies combines the thrill of being caught with the reward of saving money– three kids piled up in a trench coat can all agree that sneaking into a movie theater for a free flick and a dash of debauchery is the best way to spend a Friday night. As adults, though, when you don't pay for tickets to things, then it's no longer charming or cute, especially if you're trying to swerve public transit fare. What kind of functional adult is not willing to pay for the public services that allow you to commute around the city?

An entitled Karen, that's who.

In this case, a German Karen (perhaps that makes her a 'Kären'?) hopped up onto a bus without purchasing a ticket, attempting to take a free ride that day. Keep in mind, a day pass in most German cities costs about ~€2, so that's a pretty lame thing to refuse to pay for... OP was a bystander bus rider who watched the Kären sneakily attempt to avoid the ticket attendant when they were checking for payment, but like all the other bus passengers that day, they were in for a show when the entitled woman started a commotion.
